Money is raised from subscriptions, donations, fund raising events and grants. All of our funds are spent on the restoration projects and as
reported in our annual accounts presented at our AGM and submitted to the Charity Commission. The members of the committee receive no
remuneration or expenses.
We have been fortunate to receive substantial grants from The National Churches Trust, Churchcare, Beds & Herts Historic Churches Trust, The Steel Trust, Francis Coales and other local trusts. Typically grant making trusts require 50% of the funding needed already to be available from local
sources and so the membership subscriptions and donations are critical. The funds are then committed to priority projects and to urgent needs such
as repairing roof leaks.
Events
Every year, the Friends organise a variety of events: concerts in the church and churchyard with a variety of musical styles. Other events may include
a Flying Teddies Day, a barn dance or disco, a dinner and auction of promises – we try to give a varied programme during the year which all members of the family can enjoy.
All our events are open to anyone who wishes to come along and are advertised in the village magazine, on Facebook and on posters around the
village.
Every Sunday in the summer, tea and homemade cakes are served in the church, sometimes with musical accompaniment. If the weather is kind,
visitors can admire one of the best views in the county while they enjoy their refreshments.
